THE Mandurah Mail contacted the Department of Corrective Services (DSC) to get a definitive answer on the location of convicted rapist Patrick Comeagain.
Due to a suppression order imposed by the courts, the Department gave us this response:
Mr Comeagain was released into the community by the Supreme Court on a strict Supervision Order and must comply with 43 conditions.
DCS monitor Mr Comeagain’s whereabouts and movements through GPS tracking. GPS tracking is one part of the Department’s approach to maintaining public safety through managing and monitoring offenders released into the community.
GPS tracking is most effective when used in conjunction with the strong case management work carried out by Community Corrections Officers and when used with the arrangements in place to monitor, report and enforce compliance of the strict supervision order conditions imposed by the court.
If Mr Comeagain does not comply with any of the conditions set out in his Supervision Order, DCS will deal promptly with the breach. This can include returning him to custody.
The strict conditions set out by the Supreme Court for Mr Comeagain’s release into the community under a Supervision Order include: constant monitoring, random visits, drug and alcohol testing, curfews and reporting requirements.
The Department and the WA Police Sex Offender Management Squad are continuing to manage and supervise Dangerous Sexual Offenders (DSO’s) in the community in accordance with the Dangerous Sexual Offenders Act 2006.
Mr Comeagain’s address and location is suppressed by the Court and therefore cannot be communicated to third parties.
The Community Protection Website communityprotection.wa.gov.au provides any member of the public with access to information and photographs of sexual offenders.
A check by the Mandurah Mail on the Community Protection website does not display Mr Comeagain in the Mandurah area.
