Patrick Shell managed the feat, teeing off at the par-three sixth hole on Northcote Public Golf Course.
His father managed to capture the moment on film.
The video shows the father and son celebrating the achievement, before Patrick, so overcome with emotion, breaks down in tears.
"What a shot! You got a hole in one. That's a hole in one. That's amazing," his father can be heard saying.
The nine-year-old spoke to Melbourne radio station 3AW, saying he was overwhelmed to see the ball make its way to the hole with such ease.
"I saw where the ball went, and I saw that it went in the hole," Patrick said.
"I was playing with my dad. He screamed really loudly. We went for a raspberry lemonade (to celebrate)".
