The Sunday fixture proved problematic for the Peel Cricket Association (PCA) side due to the Country Week competition, which concluded on Saturday with Peel winning the title.
On the PCA Facebook page, association registrar Ashley Wyborn said it was with regret that the association had to forfeit its Statewide T20 semi-final against Joondalup.
“As part of the rules of the competition the PCA had to nominate a squad of 18 players,” he said.
“All but a small handful of those players participated in Country Week Finals yesterday [Saturday] unfortunately six games of cricket in seven days proved too much with players succumbing to injuries, we were unable to fill a side.”
Under the rules of play, the PCA was not allowed to bring players into the team from outside the initial 18 man squad.
Wyborn said the PCA had requested with the WACA for the fixture to be moved to another date but the request was denied due to scheduling issues.
“The PCA would like to apologise to Joondalup and to the WACA Premier Cricket,” he said.
“It certainly has put a dampener on what has been a fantastic week for Peel Cricket.”
To make the semi-final Peel’S representative side caused two upsets against the Melville District Cricket Club and a representative team from the Western Australian Suburban Turf Association (WASTCA) in their pool games.
