Peel secured a 2-0 victory in the best of three match format against BMR at Pinjarra on Sunday.
After both teams and officials paid their respects to the passing of Phillip Hughes with 63 seconds of silence, captain Josh Peterson won the toss and elected to bowl on a great wicket.
BMR were in a strong position early in game one at 2/80 from 10 overs, but some tight bowling and great fielding highlighted by a Daniel Jones catch in the outfield limited BMR to 8/145 from their 20 overs.
Andrew Tatterson was the best of the bowlers for Peel with 3/11 from his four overs.
In reply, Tatterson (27), Nic Rep (20) and Jesse Buck (18 not out) all contributed for Peel but it was Brandon Burt batting at number three who scored 55 to guide his side to a five-wicket victory.
Peel again won the toss in game two and electing to bat, Tatterson (49) and Andrew Peckover (33) got the innings off to a flying start, posting an opening stand of 87 from eight overs.
The loss of some quick wickets saw the total reach 5/126, but a 52 run partnership between Burt (41) and Jake O’Byrne (17) lifted the total up to a healthy 8/194 after the allotted 20 overs.
Peel then had BMR on the back foot early and continued to take wickets to see the score at 6/101 after 11 overs due to Peckover’s three wickets.
BMR showed why they are rated highly in the competition, getting themselves to 6/177 with four overs to go.
Captain Josh Peterson showed faith in Tatterson who had gone for 18 runs in his first over by throwing him the ball.
He took four wickets in the space of three overs to claim man-of-the-match honours with 4/25 to go along with his 49 runs.
BMR ended their innings all out for 188, handing Peel a six-run win.
