Mandurah locals have taken to social media to express their support for a burnout pad in the city, saying it would allow car enthusiasts to “let off steam” without putting other road users at risk.
This comes after a burnout pad operating in the Mandurah industrial area was reportedly closed down.
One Facebook user wrote: “Maybe if people could do it in a designated safe area, it would stop on local roads near schools and kids! Yes great idea!”
Other users have said the Motorplex in Kwinana already offers a space for the general public to practice their circle work.
“No. We have a perfectly good, supervised Motoplex for that,” a commenter wrote.
Another said demand was too great for the Motorplex to cope with: “...the Motorplex let six people do skids one night a week, then on event nights let 60 or so. And that's for the whole of Perth.”
It is understood plans for a legal burnout pad in Mandurah will be presented to council shortly.
